Learning is a continuous journey through which children build on all the things they have already experienced. Children are strong, competent, motivated and confident learners from birth. They explore, test their ideas, solve problems and make sense of their world through their play.
All children come into our setting with very different experiences, values and beliefs. They learn at different rates and in different ways. Each child’s learning journey takes a personal path.
Young children learn through seeing, hearing, touching, feeling and doing. We extend and develop children’s learning through our skilful and careful observation and sensitive interaction. By listening respectfully to children and following their lead, we are able to plan learning experiences which are open-ended, challenging but achievable.
‘In their play children learn at their highest level’. (The early years foundation stage, DEPARTMENT FOR CHILDREN, SCHOOLS AND FAMILIES)
